Couper décaler travailler is a textile research project based in Brussels run by Estelle Chatelin and Georges Ahokpe. Since 2017, the duo of a textile designer and a weaver, has been in dialogue between Benin and Belgium, questioning the practices of weaving for domestic use.

Inspired by a leitmotif, Georges and Estelle create textile pieces from the concrete and plural realities that surround them. Each of their objects, designed between two countries, proposes a story that highlights the two territories through the use, the materials and the technique of production.

By moving the Beninese loom beyond its borders, it is another aspect of the tool that the duo values. As an extension of the weaver, the fabric strip that comes out of the loom is their experimental medium. It is thanks to this format that they draw new shapes.
